WHAT POWERS COUNTRIES

Mkhulu’s structure has been designed to enable it to handle Turnkey Projects with requirements for all aspects of design through to actual construction. This ability has given Mkhulu EDP the reputation of being reliable, consistent and able to meet customer requirements in all aspects of its work.

In order to ensure good governance, Mkhulu has various structures that fulfill different roles. The highest level being the Board of Directors comprising of a wide variety of qualifications, experience and skills that enable it to fulfill the legal responsibilities of the Board and drive company direction.

Furthermore, there is the Executive Board which is made up of the Executive Directors of the company that plays oversight on operational control. Then there is a Steering Committee in place and is made up of company Senior Supervisors who have an advisory function to Senior Management and general work force.

Mr. Michele Giovanni Buonomano

Executive Director

Michele Giovanni Buonomano has a Diploma in civil engineering and land surveying. In 1970 he started working with Powerlines which later evolved to be ABB as a site engineer/project leader until 1993. In 1993 he formed (together with a partner) Eagle Power Transmission which later evolved to Mkhulu EDP. Besides being a part owner and Director, he has been involved in driving delivery and project execution in the company. He has led the execution of over 40 transmission line construction projects in various countries over the last 50 years.

Dr. Jean Marcello Lamperini

Managing Director

Jean Marcello Lamperini holds an Electrotechnical Diploma from the Institute of Technical and Industrial Studies in Reggio Emilia (Italy), Masters
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (majored in structural engineering and thermodynamics) from University of Parma (Italy). His career began in
1996 as a Project Engineer for Landi Renzo S p A, a leading European company in LPG and LNG automative Fuel Conversion. He joined EPT in 1997
as a Project manager, where he managed his first transmission line projects in sub-Sahara Africa. In 2000 he started his free-lance consulting in
integrated engineering, and it is in this role that he was exposed to business start-up projects and turn-around strategy projects in Europe, USA, Far
east for companies in the industrial /commercial plant building (Technical Director of Tecni-impianti) and automotive sector (Project and production
Manager International projects Meyster S.p.A.). In 2004 he joined Mkhulu where over and above directly managing projects he was tasked to
develop the company from a mainly subcontracting family reality to a structured organization. He was subsequently formally appointed as General
Manager in 2009, a title which changed to Managing Director in 2010. He has grown the company from humble beginnings to the important player
it has become today in its industry.

Mr. Alessandro Lamperini

Non Executive Director

Alessandro Lamperini has a degree in Political and Business Science, from the State University of Milan, Italy which was achieved in 1993. He has owned and has managed family restaurants from 1996 to 2013 in Cape Town, South Africa. He has been a Shareholder and Director in Mkhulu since November 2010.

Ms. Zola Hlatshwayo

Executive Director

Zola Nozipho Hlatshwayo holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from University of Swaziland (1997), Postgraduate Diploma from Bath University (2002) and a Masters Degree from University of Cape Town (2004).

 

She has worked for Swaziland Environment Authority as an Information Officer and later as an Analyst, CCA Environmental as a Consultant, Cradle of Humankind as an Integrated Environmental and Conservation Manager, PBMR (Pty) Ltd as a Senior Environmental Coordinator, Eskom as a SHEQ Manager and now responsible for Organizational Efficiency within Mkhulu EDP. She has been a Shareholder and a Director in Mkhulu since 2013.

Ms. Mary Francois Robinson

Non Executive Director

Mary Francois Robinson holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Communication Science and Linguistics from the University of South Africa. Her work experience began in 2004 and includes having worked as Editor for Homeguide Magazine and Production Manager at CR Publishing.

 

She has served as Director on the board of Mkhulu EDP since 2013. Her current role is Training Manager having helped establish the department with a focus on Quality Assurance at Siyazama Professional Management Services for which she has attained accreditation with various Sector Education Training Authorities.
